Material   A1 is an acrylic based organic composite consisting of a mineral filler and a water based acrylic resin. It has been formulated to give the following benefits:

Good mechanic properties – Excellent surface finish – Excellent water resistance – Excellent UV resistance – Clean working environment – Low toxicity – Low temperature rise during casting (exotherm)

Can be loaded with additional fillers (e.g. sand) and pigments – Material A1 can be applied as a laminating resin or as a gel coat

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

Always weigh the materials accurately.

Mix ratio:

MA1    Resin 100

MA1 Filler       200 by weight

Mixing: Use a high shear blade on a variable speed drill. Start by mixing the liquid component, with the blade fully immersed. Add the powder gradually into the center of the vortex, and continue to mix and adding the powder until a smooth consistency, with mo lumps is obtained.

Do not exceed speeds of about 700 r.p.m. Pigments may be added to the liquid component. A maximum of 2% of the total mix is recommended.

Demoulding: Products should be demoulded as soon as possible. As this product is water based, the water has to evaporate completely before the final properties are achieved. Thin sections will harden quicker than thicker ones.  The product should be properly supported during the curing stage. Painting should only be done once the casting is totally cured.

Cleaning: As this material is water based, all tools such as brushes and mixing equipment should be washed immediately after use.  The above data are offered for customer’s guidance only and given in good faith.
