PX140 FLEXIBLE CASTING RESIN
PX140 casting system is a material based on polyether polyols and diisocyanate prepolymer used to produce polyurethane elastomers with excellent hydrolysis resistance, very high abrasion resistance and physical properties. Used for flexible potting applications. PX140 A is equivalent to Tek140A.
Available in sealed twin-pack aluminium foils packed in the following pack sizes: PX140 (250g) & (500 g). Pigmented to suit customers needs.
Description Polyol PX140 A ISO PX140 B
Appearance Black coloured liquid Pale clear, liquid
Viscosity 8000 CPS @ 25°C 1800 cps @ 25°C
Mixed Viscosity: 3000 CPS (cps)
Density 1,30 1,08
Mix ratio 100,00 52,0 by weight
PROCESSING
Mixing temperature: both components at 25°C
Mix time : 2 – 3 minutes
Pot life : 8 – 10 minutes at ambient temperatures
Gel Time : 30 minutes at 25 to 27 deg. C (Test tube Gelnorm DIN 16945)
Demould time: A 200 g casting is demouldable in approximately 6 hours at 25 C.
Refer to physical properties after 1 hour. Larger mass total mass, or increase in temperatures will result faster pot life and faster build-up of properties. A joint box at 30 to 40 C would gain at least 30 minutes in down time.
Instructions
Open the aluminium foil only when ready to cast. This product is sensitive to humidity. Then remove the rubber chord separator and mix both sides very well for 2 minutes. Note that the contents will start to warm up. From this moment onwards there is only about 5 to 8 minutes to cut the cornet of the plastic bag and pour.
Pot life and setting time are dependent on size of casting, the temperature of the components and the mould temperature. Larger castings that retain the heat of the reaction will gel and cure quicker. High component temperatures will shorten the pot life and hot moulds will reduce demould times.
Please note that the viscosity of both PX140A polyol and PX140B will go up slightly at a temperature below 20 C. Mixing with the ISO will bring it to normal viscosity.

SAFETY AND HANDLING
Contact with the skin should therefore be avoided. When working with PX140 protective gloves, safety goggles and overalls must be worn. Contact and/or contamination should be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water. Do not allow PX140 to come in contact with any foodstuff.
PX140B is a toluene di-isocyanate and the usual precautions should be exercised when handling this family of chemicals. Protective clothing should be worn and contact with the body avoided. Inhalation of fumes must be strictly avoided and a protective mask should be worn in a well-ventilated work area.
The safety procedures applicable to the handling of urethane raw materials should be read, understood and rigidly adhered to. These are available on request from TECHNORESIN CC.
